We go in her room, she crawls to her books, starts pulling. Looking for that one. The perfect book - it's gotta taste right, feel right, flip right. Lately that one has been Ten Little Ladybugs. A few months back it was Five Little Ducks. Occasionally it's Daddy Loves Me. Or Chicka Chicka ABC. Or What Does Baby Say?
This girl, busy-bee that she is, will sit on my lap while we read through a stack of 10 books or more! I love that about her. We sure hope this interest doesn't wane because on October 28th she became the sole heiress to a book fortune - over 1,000 carefully catalogued children's books. The catalog system is my own invention, searchable on Excel. I like to call it the "DeeDee Decimal System". It took me the entire summer of 2002 to get them that way (and many hours here and there since) and they're all just sitting in the garage, waiting to be loved by the Pigbear. You'd think with that many books she wouldn't need anymore but it seems that everytime we're out and about she acquires another. You just can't have too many books I say.
So last night I picked up 3 more.

i still remember scott commenting the first time he went out to see you a few years ago about your book organization.. his words were (typical boy)... "Deedee likes scrapbooking and little kids books and is organized like you... you'll love her" hah! and was he totally right or what?!
The ladybug book was one of Mazie's favorites. We read the girls to sleep at night. They crawl into their beds and we read until they are asleep (usually 5-10 minutes). This is on top of the reading routine we have during the day. I remember that DeeDee Decimal system project. That seems so long ago...Gorgeous outfit!

I'm proud of you for reading so many books. Tell your mother not to forget your math skills (it's the universal language, even aliens speak it). Aunt Parmy has a couple extra Calc books we'll wrap up for Christmas presents.

and which three did YOU pick up? i don't have any of those that are sarah's faves right now! i LOVE the dee dee decimal system! fantastic! al's fave right now is still "moo, baa, la la la" - she knows it BY HEART!
What a smarty pants! She is gonna have those books memorized before you know it! I cant wait to read to her and Charlotte in a few weeks!

It took me some time to read my very first book. I've decided that I've missed a lot of history and much more. But now, I'm trying to make up for that lost time. Sarah is so fortunate to have a mom that knows and finds books...as they are a journey in time, to so much.

Looking at these pix of Sarah making her book selection - she just looks SO grown up! It's going too fast! Not that I don't want her to progress - I just want to SEE it for myself. :(
