major slumpage.

Ugh. I hate it. That feeling that everything coming out of my camera lacks luster. I'm working through it (I hope) so bear with me!

Anyway, despite the pitiful case of the blahs I'm having I did snap this that I'm seriously attached to...
Just Pigbear and Daddy hanging out before church. They're reading (again!) her new vocabulary book that she is seriously addicted to. She shuns all other books in favor of it and wants to pause on every page to name all items she knows or might know in the future. It's like reading the dictionary. Should I be concerned?
Okay, now is the time to weigh in on the new logo/watermark. Anyone? Anyone? Hit me with it!

How sweet! My DD is into 'reading' her books to little brother right now!

I really like the logo/watermark! I only see one small (and I do mean small) thing, I would move over the dots below the 'e' so that they continue the circle better with the dots coming over the 'i'. I don't know if that makes any sense or not, kinda hard to explain, sorry if it doesn't make sense! 8)

OK now that I look at it again, it looks good, I guess that's what I get for commenting with my tired eyes at midnight...sorry 8)

Darling picture!! I think your little Pigbear is just smart. She did the fashion model thing for a bit and now she's just balancing it with some book smarts. Well rounded. That's what I'd say!

And I adore your logo/water mark! Very artistic and professional but, fun at the same time!

That's just my $.02!

great picture! I love the new watermark- the only thing is that it was the first thing that caught my attention- i liked that fact but you also have to remember it's the pictures not the logo that you want people to look at first- so maybe a little smaller? but it's a great logo- definitely was the first thing i looked at when i was looking at the picture! maybe just make it smaller so you look at your sweet subjects first THEN notice the cool logo

just an idea from a college kid- no need to take it! hah!

I agree with what AK said, should be a little smaller. Cool design but takes away from the picture being so large, it was the first thing I noticed as well.

Hi girls, I hear you on the smaller thing. That's what Brent said too. BUT one of the reasons I changed it up is because I NEED it to cover more picture. There has been a rash of picture stealing lately and my old little watermark/logo could have been cropped or cloned out in a second. So I'm no longer worried about the watermark covering the photo too much. I want it to cover it a good bit to make it easier to lift. Make sense? Thanks for chiming in!

I was going to say that I like the new one but I loved your old one and then I read your comment. What do people do with other peoples pictures, I've heard this alot and I don't understand.

I'm totally diggin' the new watermark, girl! Love that sweet photo, too! Now when are you going to e-mail me and fill me in about Huntsville? That's only like my hometown! ;) Hope you all are doing well!

I was going to comment on your logo on the photo a day page. I think it looks great. I know we aren't seeing any of the "slump" pictures but this one is wonderful. Not seeing the slump.

And I really like the new logo/watermark.

What a sweet moment to capture. Tell Sarah to keep on reading. I love the logo, and it's the perfect size for your intended use.

Thanks you guys! Jen, people steal photos for a variety of reasons and most often it's just to claim them as their own and pretend to be better photographers than they actually are. There are a variety of other reasons they do it too and I don't really care why they do it...I just don't want anyone to take mine! :-)

So you have a little girl who is beautiful, likes to read, and is smart. Hmmm, reminds me of someone I use to know..... :)

And I don't blame you for marking your territory. The thought of someone trying to steal pictures of your little girl is just creepy!!

Very nice-- perfect in fact and though I don't know you, its whimsy seems to suit you. My son was a dictionary fanatic as well. I remember him opening all of his Christmas presents as a three year old and not being able to pull him away from his animal encyclopedia.

Watermark looks great and Sarah looks like such a big girl in that picture. Nick has been asking about Sarah lately. It is too cute. Guess she stuck with him that night he saw her for 10 minutes. Gina :)

I concur w/ ALL. I wonder if you could make one of the grey dots a copyright c? SOME people actually obey those...

Also, every great artist goes through a slump. We don't see it, but I can empathize. Just don't lop you ear off, ok?

Adorable picture of Papa and Pigbear. I, too, like the design of your new watermark, only if it were me, I would strategically place it across what is going on in the photo so that those who steal photos don't simply crop it out of their way. Look back at the relatively recent photos of Sara with her little exposed tummy. I would smack the watermark right there because sadly there ARE some (let's hope not many) perverts who would steal that picture, crop out your logo and put it on some illicit site. Just a thought and I hope I don't convey as paranoid. You have many who enjoy seeing your creative photography and precious daughter so I hope you never encounter issues.

Ciao,
Dee

I can't believe that people do that, thanks for clarifying.

Great caption of your favorites! As far as the logo/watermark, it's great, but why not make the watermark look lkie a roll of film?

Love you all...

I noticed the new watermark a few days ago and was going to tell you that I love it--it just didn't make my list for that day. So, I'll tell you, now, I love it!

Hi there!

My name is Lindsay, and I have never commented before, but I stumbled onto your page as a link from thenest.com. Wow! I am so impressed with your photography...priceless shots of your beautiful daughter growing up!

I love taking pictures of my 6 month old daughter as well, and my husband and I have decided to splurge for a "real" camera. I was curious what you recommend as far as brand/lenses etc.? I don't want to to purchase and then wish I had done things differently later, so I thought you'd be the perfect "mommy photographer to ask."

I really apprecite any thoughts you have and thanks in advance. Love your blog!! :)

Lovin' the watermark Erin!!! And believe me, I totally know the funk of feeling like everything coming out of the camera looks blah. In fact, that's the majority of my photography. Need some inspiring new places!!!
