If there's a green parent sash to collect parental badges on then Brent and I have definitely earned the "sick baby merit badge". We've officially been initiated into the new parent club because we spent the middle of the night in the emergency room with Sweetness and stopped off at the grocery store on the way home (2:30am!) to gather ingredients for the ER doctor- recommended "magic butt balm". Sarah has been battling a stomach bug since Thursday afternoon and last night she couldn't keep anything down. We finally took her in to be checked out, sure she wouldn't be with us for another 24 hours if we didn't (okay, maybe that was Mommy's perspective. Brent, of course, had a much more level head about the whole situation). The doctors assured us that she would be fine after a lot of pedialyte, small amounts of formula, and "magic butt balm" for her raw little bottom. We're hoping she's on the upswing but we were warned that this sort of thing can sometimes last for two weeks (TWO WEEKS?!).
As Grandma pointed out as she listened to Sarah squeal with delight over the phone yesterday, "that baby may be sick, but she sure doesn't know it." So true. Other than being a little more interested in cuddling and grunting (not a pleasant sound from a 4 month old, let me assure you) Sarah has been in great spirits and is enjoying the attention. She's definitely my baby. Say a little prayer, say a little prayer for the Pigbear.
